Quietening Myself

The intention is to open yourself to the presence of God within you.

Breathing exercise
Open yourself to the awareness of your breath.
Drawing in your breath deeply…… holding it momentarily, then releasing it slowly, holding that emptiness momentarily and then breathing deeply again….. recalling that line from the Psalms

Be Still and Know that I am God

Psalm 46:10

Returning to your normal breathing

There is nothing to do here, there is no right or wrong, you simply are endeavouring to create a space of quiet within to allow the presence of the living Christ to be……
and when distractions come just return to your breath…..no judgement… no criticism…. simply return with the intention of allowing the presence of God within to be…..

Stay with the quiet for as long or as short a time as you wish. The piece of music below, Spiegel im Spiegel, is 8 minutes long, use it as a timer if you wish, it has a very gentle rhythm to it.

Spiegel im Spiegel – Arvo Pärt

Bring in the thought for the day

And as you end your quietening time, read over the passage for the day.

  • Read it once, quietly to yourself.
  • After a moment read it aloud to hear the words
  • After a moment read it quietly again allowing the words to drop down inside of yourself.

Move into your day
